Canaveral 2

The Canaveral 2

The Canaveral 2 is the second in IPD’s ultra-modern range of housing units.

Modelled after the Canaveral house, the Canaveral 2 provides extended living space for those that like to have more room in their homes, through the addition of a single-storey wing to the right side of the house that blends perfectly with the familiar lines of the Canaveral.

Some 43 metres across the double frontage, the Canaveral 2 is a striking design that will catch the eye in any environment in which it is placed. As with the Canaveral, the design is deliberately open-plan to make maximum use of the panoramic windows, although a modesty wall does allow the single-storey wing of the house to be used for a variety of functions.

Front View

Entry to the house is gained via a set of double doors leading to a broad hall with open-step stairs leading to the upper floor and a suspended walkway linking the bedroom to the rooftop patio area.

The entrance hall provides plenty of space and flows into the 20×15 metre lounge area with views to the front and rear aspects as well as full floor-to-ceiling side windows.

Like the smaller Canaveral, a special feature of the lounge is the choice of optional fireplaces, controlled from a dual rezzing unit mounted on the pillar on your left as you enter the lounge area.

Wall fireplace

The first of these rezzes against the living room / bedroom wall, providing twin fireplaces and an exterior chimney.  A lighting system in included to provide a soft lighting effect at night. By default, this will come on at dusk and turn off at dawn, although touching the mantle above the lounge fireplace will display a menu which allows you to turn the lighting on or off manually.

Outside view showing the central fireplaces at night

The second option provides a more unusual fireplace option, with both fireplaces rezzing in the middle of the lounge and bedroom floor space, providing both a focal point for each room, as well as helping divide them both somewhat without resorting to interior walls.

The central fireplace also includes a double lighting system, designed to come on at dusk and turn off at dawn and which can also be menu-controlled by touching the mantle over the lounge fireplace.

The fires themselves are “lit” by default. Simply type “x” (lower case) is chat to douse the flames, and type “on” to re-light the fires!

The suspended walkway

Upstairs is a large bedroom space, again with aspects to the front and rear via the large panoramic windows. A suspended walkway leads from the bedroom, crossing over the entrance hall, to connect with the roof-top patio that sits over the single-storey wing of the house.

This wing provides a further room some 20 x12 metres in size, and is separated by a modesty wall (which can be edited and removed, if preferred).

Canaveral 2 at night

The hallway itself is lit via a concealed uplighter contained in a ceiling beam, which again will turn on and off automatically at duck and dawn, or which can be manually activated by touching the beam itself.

The doors in the house are fully scripted and include a range of options – touch and hold the mouse button for more than 2 seconds to access the Admin menu.

All-in-all the Canaveral 2 provides a lot of living space within a very distinctive design that will fit almost any environment within Second Life.

One Response to Canaveral 2

  1. This looks awesome this reminds me of those houses molded on a continuous extrusion machine.

Do you have any plan to make a metric scaled (2.5-3 meter ceiling height) version for peoples who use avatars with realistic height? that would be quite a nice addition!
