The Canaveral is an ultra-modern house design that combines style with plenty of living space.
With its open-plan design, it offers incredibly flexible living space, and is equally-well suited to urban environs as it is to private estate or skyliving. Certainly, it is one of the most eye-catching builds to come out of IPD.
On the ground floor of the house are a pair of linked rooms, the larger of which is well suited as a living room and can be easily divided into two smaller rooms in a number of ways – of which more in a moment. The second room has a vaulted ceiling and double doors leading to the outside patio.
Upstairs is a large bedroom, one side of which overlooks the smaller of the downstairs room and is connected to it by a step loose stairway.
All of the rooms feature large panoramic windows to the front and rear aspect; indeed the windows form a major part of the Canaveral’s overall architecture, designed to hence the dramatic form of the white frame of the house while providing a further sense of space and airiness inside, without overly compromising on privacy.
The Canaveral features a choice of optional fireplaces – both downstairs and up – using a dual rez-on-demand system.
The first of these rezzes against the living room / bedroom wall, providing twin fireplaces and an exterior chimney.
The second option provides a more unusual fireplace option, with both fireplaces rezzing in the middle of the lounge and bedroom floor space, providing both a focal point for each room, as well as helping divide them both somewhat without resorting to interior walls.
Either fireplace can be rezzed on demand at will, using a wall-mounted controller, allowing you to swap between them depending on how you wish your lounge to be arranged – or you can opt not to use either of them, depending on your requirements.
The fires themselves are “lit” by default. Simply type “x” (lower case) is chat to douse the flames, and type “on” to re-light the fires!
The Canaveral includes moderate scripted lighting with two options. The first is a uplighter concealed in the roof cross-beam over the staircase. The second is completely optional, being located in the the central fireplace, if rezzed.
Both lights will come on automatically at dusk and turn off at dawn. alternatively, you can turn them on / off manually at any time using a simple menu control system.
The doors in the Canaveral are fully scripted, with a range of options available from the Admin menu – simply touch a door for 2 seconds or longer to access the menu.
