The Water Margin is my first “water” home.
Based on a real-world design for a floating home developed in the Netherlands, the Water Margin retains the look and feel of the original but expands it for comfortable SL living.
The house is a single-floor unit comprising a 16x16m lounge area with an additional 16x8m raised gallery room to the rear. A glass-fronted hallway links the lounge to a large, airy 16x16m bedroom.
A sliding door to the front aspect provides access to the large deck area that runs along the front of the lounge area and down the side, providing a large 20x10m open space for sun loungers, etc. A set of double doors from the side of the house provides additional access to the deck.
Between the two main sections of the house is a small jetty which provides sufficient space to moor your speedboat or other small craft, with steps from the jetty going directly up to the front door of the house.
As one would expect from an IPD house, the Water Margin includes a high finish standard, NDE-scripted doors and the IPD window “tinting” system.
During the day the windows of the house are covered by lace curtains or “open” blinds to provide a measure of privacy; however, as dusk falls, the lace curtains are replaced by Fully opaque curtains while indirect lighting helps illuminate the rooms. Touching any window will also allow you to manually change the appearance of the curtains should you want greater privacy during daylight hours or if you prefer to have the curtains “open” at night.
While the Water Margin is primarily intended for use on water, it can also be rezzed on land as well; although I think you’ll find that it is on the water that it really comes into its own.
